Growing up in the Great Lakes region, falling in love with nature was easy. Steve was surrounded by dunes, forests, and lakes and learned to enjoy them in all four seasons. After high school, Steve moved out to Colorado and traded the lakes for mountains. There he pursued a degree in International Affairs with a geographical concentration in Latin America. He also minored in Spanish, but never knew how far languages would take him!  

After graduating from the University of Colorado, Steve went through his quarter-life crisis and decided to move to South America. He acquired an English teaching certification and spent a year teaching in Santiago, Chile. Coming to the conclusion that city life was not for him, he decided to try and combine work and pleasure. He began the process of accumulating the proper certifications to be a guide in Chile and landed a dream job in Torres del Paine National Park.

He spent three seasons leading various types of tours, but some of his favorites were horseback riding and puma tracking. Recent global events brought Steve back to the United States, but he still hasn’t lost his sense of adventure. He loves connecting people with nature and is excited to share his next adventure with you!

The O-circuit in Torres del Paine, Chile.  

What’s your favorite bike ride?

A slow cruise along Lake Michigan.  

Favorite movie?

How could one pick a favorite? I like any movie with a John Williams score. I’m also enjoying the Marvel movies: 24 movies and counting following the same storyline?! Yes, please! But we all know that Star Wars would have been the easiest answer.  

Favorite book?

It’s hard to choose a favorite, but one I like to read every now and then is The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. It’s a simple story but it’s relatable.

Favorite song?

It’s impossible to choose one song. It changes daily. I love live music and getting out and cutting a rug!  

When did you first catch the travel bug?

I give credit to my grandfather. He was a world traveler, and I was fortunate to go on a couple of trips with him in my youth.  

What are your hobbies?

Apart from the typical outdoorsy stuff that most guides partake in, I like to take photos, snowboard, study language, and golf.  Last summer I picked up kiteboarding and fell in love with the sport. Surfs up!
