My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic 2 weeks in Patagonia as a 50th birthday celebration. I had wanted to do the W Trek and explore the El Chalten area, so when looking for trip options, Active Adventures had the best combination. Our primary guide, Zac, was wonderful. He always kept things running smoothly and shared his expansive knowledge, in combination with our other guides, of the areas we explored. We lucked out with some amazing weather with only a bit of rain one day during the W. It's an amazing part of the world to explore. We hope to do the Northern Patagonia trip in the future.

We had a fabulous trip!! Our guides were amazing and super competent. We saw some truly special sites and had some great adventures we never would have accessed on our own. I would say positives were really fun adventures and hikes. I liked how the itinerary varied every day and we got to go on boats, kayaks, planes, bikes etc. We were never bored! The food and accomodations were wonderful. The only thing we didn't love was the hours and hours spent in the van! That first day was a whopper.....we were worried that the trip was just going to be looking our the window at New Zealand. May be some warning ahead of time would have been helpful?

Overall excellent trip! We did the comfort option in Torres de Paine and thoroughly enjoyed our stays and hiking options. Our guide, Cem, was fantastic, always keeping us informed of the schedule and events. He definitely deserves a pay raise!!
I would say, that our stay location in El Chalten was the low point of our accommodations. The rooms were hot and uncomfortable. I also question the reuse of wrapping materials for our lunches as they cannot be sanitized. I can only imagine how how hot these rooms must be as the temperature picks up in the area. I understand accommodations are limited in the town, but I did note nicer locations.
Also, flying into Punta Arenas essentially wastes a day and should be counted as a part of the 14 days. Flying into Puerto Natales from Santiago makes much more sense although I understand there are less flights. I would also recommend updating Tour Radar regarding there is no penguin visit as we were all expecting this when we arrived.
Also, replace the bike ride with another hike.

Great trip with Wilson as our guide. Well organized. Wilson also provided tips and helped arrange a plan for my free day in Cusco. Kept busy and saw amazing sites and wildlife. We were blessed with good weather too which is always a plus.

We've traveled with Active Adventures several times and have always enjoyed how thoroughly the adventures are planned. We know we're in the hands of great local guides who are always a step ahead. The activities allow us to really experience the best that a location has to offer.

The Patagonia trip was terrific. We saw a puma and witnessed a guanaco mating and male fighting event. It was like a first hand National Geographic experience. The guides were excellent with a couple of exceptions. Overall experience was good.

What a memorable trip! Excellent trip variety, thoughtfully curated programs (nice idea for group bonding over cycling and intro to Patagonian estancias, prehistoric milodons, fjords on Day 1), experienced trip leader (Jessica + Alvaro and Cem in Puerto Natales) with great food /restaurant choices! The use of local guides in Torres del Paine and Chalten bring additional local trail experience and change up the dynamic in the groups. One suggestion is that there should always be an Active trip leader / staff with the group for consistency of experience, for trouble shooting in case of emergencies, language help, etc. Our group had 7 people do the comfort option while 6 went on the W Trek with the trip leader. The 7 left behind in the comfort option had to fend for ourselves a bit - from language barriers during meals to navigating the local hikes with 2 experienced local porters/hikers but not trip leaders. The Trip Leaders are who make the Active experience what it is- when they are gone to the W and half the group left on our own, we really lose out on the "concierge" experience that the trip leader brings.
